ActivePlatform Identified as a Market Player (Cloud Brokerage Service Platforms) in the Gartner's Competitive Landscape: Cloud Service Brokerage

ActivePlatform, a full-service automated cloud brokerage solution for cloud service providers has been listed as a Market Player (Cloud Brokerage Service Platform) by Gartner in the Competitive Landscape: Cloud Service Brokerage report. The report lists 19 vendors, 12 as cloud brokerage service providers and 7 as cloud service brokerage service platforms (software vendors).
Gartner defines cloud brokerage service providers as "providers that use their own platforms or third-party platforms to build and offer brokerage services, whereas cloud brokerage service platform providers offer enabling solutions for brokerage that other service providers use to build their services on such platform".
The CSB role is rapidly gaining acceptance in the industry and is an important driver in the growth of cloud services and adjacent technologies. Gartner predicts that "Through 2020, 50% of organizations will engage a cloud service brokerage provider for their cloud needs given the increased adoption of multicloud and hybrid cloud consumption models.". ActivePlatform is currently engaged with deployments in over 20 geographies with plans to expand our CSB platform to 50+ markets in the coming year. According to the report, "A cloud service brokerage (CSB) solution is an IT role and business model in which a company or other entity adds value to one or more (public or private) cloud services on behalf of one or more consumers of that service via four primary models: aggregation, integration, customization and governance brokerage."
The report continues, "A CSB provides technology to take on some of the activities of the brokerage function, and offers combined technology, people, managed services and methodologies to implement and manage CSB-related projects and requirements." The cloud service can be public or private, on-premise, or hosted in the cloud.
The Gartner report identified four key CSB roles (Aggregation, Integration, Customization, and Governance Brokerage) and defined them as the following:
  • Aggregation: "Aggregation brings together multiple services in scale such as cloud-scale provisioning, consistent management view, single sign-on and unified billing, as well as unified management, ease of access, customer support and SLA management."
  • Integration: "Integration brings together multiple cloud services and makes them work together to deliver an integrated result. CSB integrator capabilities include integration of cloud endpoints in scale, governance, and community management and migration skills."
  • Customization: "Customization alters or adds to the capabilities of a service to perform its function, such as layering new data and process functions, visibility and analytics, or incorporating a new look and feel to the service. Customization brokerage is the implementing and managing of change in people, processes and technologies."
  • Governance: "This involves the ability to work with end users to define, register and enforce (in near real time) fine-grained, role-based cloud service policies. These may apply to security (for example, authentication and authorization), operations (for example, priority scheduling and service response time) and process-level attributes (for example, data validation and task approval). This includes the ability to enforce them in near real time in scale, potentially across hundreds of thousands of users."
"We are excited to be identified by Gartner as a cloud service brokerage platform, which to us is another way to tell our customers that we create value in the ecosystem exactly like that, as a cloud platform vendor, as a software vendor," said Oleg Tyagunov, CEO of ActivePlatform. "We enable service providers and have differentiation points that are valuable to our customers. With our relentless commitment to innovating in this space, service providers, distributors and telecom operators are able to implement cloud service brokerage solutions at an affordable price."
ActivePlatform offers cloud service brokerage solutions that address the major CSB roles defined in the Gartner report. Organizations can quickly deploy solutions based on the platform that was built from the ground up to provide a flexible and cost-effective approach and includes automated billing and provisioning, a multi-vendor marketplace with cloud services connectors and a customer storefront.
